Best Apex Legends PC settings for FPS

By Austin Copeland. Austin founded Hypertune in 2022, which is a product of COMPREADY.

The best Apex Legends PC settings for more FPS start with EA's Video tab: full screen on one monitor, your monitor's aspect ratio and resolution, and Field of View between 90 and 110. For more FPS, use the lowest graphics settings that still look clear enough to fight. EA says lower graphics give the game more streaming budget, which means a faster response in matches.

Boost my performance

The biggest Apex FPS boosts

  1. Display Mode: Full screen if you use one monitor.
  2. Use the graphics table below. Reflex stays Enabled, and Texture Filtering stays Bilinear Filtering.
  3. V-Sync Disabled unless you see screen tearing.
  4. Nvidia Reflex Enabled if you have an NVIDIA GPU.
  5. Show FPS in game, and lower a few options at a time.

Measure

How to measure Apex FPS first

EA says you can show FPS in game while you play, and that you should lower a few options at a time to see how each one changes FPS. If a setting is not on EA's list, EA says it will not change performance, so leave it until you have a reason to move it.

Video

Best Apex Legends video settings

Change these in Settings, under the Video tab. This table is EA's starting point for Apex Legends on PC. Full screen is for one monitor, and windowed is for more than one. Keep your monitor's own aspect ratio and resolution. Field of View starts at 70 on a new install, and EA's range for play is 90 to 110.

Best Apex Legends graphics settings (Advanced Video)

EA's list for competitive play. Nvidia Reflex stays Enabled if you have an NVIDIA GPU. Adaptive Supersampling goes up only when the picture is unclear. With the brightness tip above, these are the Apex Legends best graphics settings for visibility: low enough for FPS, and clear enough to spot enemies.

Launch options

Apex Legends launch options and FPS cap

To set an Apex Legends FPS cap, add a launch option. In the EA app, open Library, select the three-dot menu on Apex Legends, then View properties, then Advanced launch options. On Steam, right-click Apex Legends in your Library, then Properties, General, Launch Options. Type +fps_max followed by the frame rate, for example +fps_max 200. EA warns that changing the cap can cause performance issues, so check your PC's specs first.

Mouse

Best Apex Legends mouse settings

EA says there is no wrong mouse or controller setting, so the ranges below are a starting point and not a required config. Sensitivity is in Controller Settings, or the Mouse/Keyboard tab. Test a new number in the Firing Range before you take it into a match, on a row of targets and on a moving target.

EA's suggested mouse ranges
Range
Low sensitivity0.5 to 2.5
Medium sensitivity2.5 to 3.5
High sensitivity3.5 to 5

Common mouse DPI values EA names: 400, 800, and 1600. A high DPI, such as 1600, usually pairs with a lower in-game sensitivity.

Mouse AccelerationOff

Test sensitivity in the Firing Range. EA suggests a row of targets from a distance, tracking a moving target, and flicks between targets that are far apart.

On a controller, EA says some competitive players use Look Sensitivity 4 and Look Sensitivity (ADS) 3, with Response Curve on Linear. If you are new to the game, EA says start on Classic.

Audio

Apex Legends audio settings

EQ is in Settings, on the Audio tab. To hear enemies more clearly, EA says set Master Volume and Sound Effects Volume to their highest, and turn down Dialogue Volume, Music Volume, and Lobby Music Volume. Footsteps sit with the sound effects, so that slider stays up while voice and music come down.

Windows and drivers

Windows and driver settings for Apex Legends

Windows settings that help every game also help Apex Legends. Game Mode is on by default, so this step is usually a check. Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is worth a test on your own PC, because it helps most machines and a few games stutter with it on. Nvidia Reflex stays the in-game switch in the table above.

1

Game Mode: Settings, Gaming, Game Mode. It is on by default, so check that it is on.

2

Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: Settings, System, Display, Graphics, then Advanced graphics settings. On some Windows 11 PCs the link is Change default graphics settings. Turn it on and restart. If the switch is missing, the card or driver does not support it. If Apex stutters, turn it off.

NVIDIA settings for Apex Legends

Open NVIDIA Control Panel, then 3D Settings, Manage 3D settings, Global Settings. If you turn Nvidia Reflex on in the table above, leave Low Latency Mode off in the NVIDIA driver so the two do not overlap. [Please double-check]

Hypertune

Let Hypertune do it for Apex Legends

Every step above is free and does not need the app. On a Windows PC, Hypertune adds CPU Overclocking, GPU Overclocking, Windows Debloating, Network Optimizations, Memory Optimizations, and Game Hub. Game Hub includes an Apex Legends profile. Game Hub changes in-game settings through each game's config files, and that is all it changes.

Hypertune is an Intel partner and an AMD partner, and supports NVIDIA graphics cards.

Users see up to 60% higher FPS.

To undo a change, open the Restore tab, choose the most recent restore point, then Restore. What Hypertune changes is on the technology page.

Questions

Best Apex Legends Settings and FPS FAQ

What are the best Apex Legends settings on PC?

EA's starting point is full screen on one monitor, your monitor's default aspect ratio and resolution, Field of View 90 to 110, and the graphics table on this page.

Does Nvidia Reflex help in Apex Legends?

EA recommends Nvidia Reflex Enabled if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

Should I turn V-Sync on in Apex Legends?

EA says Disabled unless you see screen tearing.

How do I see FPS in Apex Legends?

In Apex, go to Settings, Gameplay, and turn Performance Display on. FPS and ping show in the top-right corner. On Steam, go to Steam, Settings, In-Game, turn on the in-game FPS counter and pick a corner. Tick High contrast color to make the Apex FPS counter easier to read.

Should Adaptive Resolution FPS Target be on or off?

EA recommends Disabled unless your FPS drops often. If the FPS counter often shows under 60, EA suggests adjusting Adaptive Resolution FPS Target in the Advanced Video settings.

What is the best FOV for Apex Legends?

EA recommends a Field of View between 90 and 110. A new install starts at 70. EA says 110 is common for competitive play. Pick the highest value in that range that still feels comfortable when you aim.

Why does Apex Legends stutter or drop FPS?

Apex Legends stuttering and FPS drops usually come from settings above EA's list. Turn on Performance Display under Settings, Gameplay, to watch the number. Then check full screen, V-Sync off unless you see tearing, Texture Streaming Budget at low or medium, and shadows and effects on low. If FPS still drops often, EA suggests turning on Adaptive Resolution FPS Target.

How do I get more FPS in Apex Legends?

Set Display Mode to full screen, use the graphics table on this page, and turn V-Sync off unless you see tearing. Change a few options at a time with Performance Display on, so you can see what each change does. EA says most players aim for at least 60 FPS, since that is what most monitors support. That is the best FPS for Apex Legends on a 60 Hz screen.

Is Hypertune safe to use with Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC)?

Apex Legends uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC). Hypertune makes no unsafe changes. Read the safety page.
